What is Superheater And Reheater

 

The reheater is essentially a kind of steam superheater which reheats the low-pressure steam and reaches a certain temperature. The function of the reheater further improves the thermal efficiency of the power plant cycle, and controls the steam temperature of the last stage blade of the steam turbine within the allowable range. A reheater is a heater in a boiler that heats steam from a steam turbine into superheated steam. There are two functions of reheater: one is to reduce the humidity of water vapor, which is conducive to the protection of steam turbine blades; the other is to improve the relative and absolute internal efficiency of steam turbine.

Superheater is a part of boiler that further heats steam from saturation temperature to superheated temperature, also known as steam superheater. Superheater can be divided into convection type, radiation type and semi-radiation type according to heat transfer mode, and snake-shaped tube type, screen type, wall type and enclosure type according to structural characteristics. They are composed of several parallel pipes and headers for import and export.
Most industrial boilers are not equipped with superheaters, because many industrial production processes and living facilities require only saturated steam. In power plants, locomotives and marine boilers, superheaters are usually installed to improve the circulating heat efficiency of the whole steam power plant.

What are the features of Superheater And Reheater?

 

Outer Diameter of Pipe is usually 30-60 mm. Convective superheater is the most commonly used, using snake-shaped tube. It has a relatively dense pipe group, which is arranged in flue gas temperature 450 - 1000 C, and is scoured horizontally and vertically by flue gas. The flue gas mainly convects heat to the pipe, and some radiation absorbs heat. The screen superheater is composed of multiple tube panels, which are arranged at the upper part of the furnace or at the outlet. It belongs to the radiation or semi-radiation superheater. The former absorbs the radiation heat of the furnace flame, while the latter absorbs part of the convective heat. In power plant boilers above 10 MPa, both screen and serpentine tube superheaters are usually used to increase heat absorption. The wall superheater applied on the inner wall of the furnace is radiation superheater, which is seldom used. The wall-enclosed superheater is used to form the top of the furnace and the wall of the convective flue duct in a large capacity power plant boiler. The light furnace wall is made of insulating material. The picture shows the arrangement of several superheaters. Small capacity industrial boilers equipped with superheaters can generally meet the requirements only by using convective superheaters of single-stage tubes.
