Description
| 1 | The temperature of steam in boilers depends on the pressure but whilst it is in contact with the water it never exceeds the boiling point for that pressure. |
| 2 | This is referred to as the "saturated steam" temperature. So long as the pressure and temperature remain the same the steam will not contain water and is referred to as "dry saturated steam". |
| 3 | As the steam travels from the boiler to the engine,however,despite insulation of the pipework etc,it will experience a drop in temperature and condensation will immediately result. |
| 4 | Condensation will also occur when the steam comes into contact with the cooler cylinder walls and,as energy is extracted from the steam in the cylinders by performing work on the piston, a further drop in temperature will occor resulting in further condensation. |
| 5 | Apart from the resulting loss of efficiency,the presence of incompressible liquid water in the cylinder is potentially disastrous. |
| 6 | If it were trapped between the piston and the cylinder end-cap it could result in the end being blown off. |

Product Function
1.The function of the superheater in the thermal power plant is to remove the last traces of moisture ( 1 to 2%) from the saturated steam coming out of boiler and to increase its temperature sufficiently above saturation temperature.
2.The super-heating heating raises overall overall cycle efficiency efficiency as well as avoids too much condensation in the last stages of the turbine which avoids the blade erosion.
3.The heat of combustion gases from furnace is utilized for the removal of moisture from steam and to superheat the steam.
4.Super-heaters usually have several tube circuits in parallel with one or more return bends, connected between headers.
